somewhere. If you want filenames in a Flex client app, you will have to
use a server-side process to grab a text representation of some part of

Do you have the filesystem data on the client? Then sure, you can use
it as a dataProvider.
Of course a file system is a hiearchy, and a combo box is linear. You
have that issue figured out?
