If Catos code doesn't do the trick (I haven't looked), you could store the logout time in a local shared object and read that when the application restarts. If the restart is within a shirt time of the logout, you can display your message. Also, your original idea would work, passing in a parameter on the url. But your html wrapper must be set up to take parameters and pass them into your flex app via flashvars.
