So the 100 MB is what we support and test, but it is not enforced. As for the number of files, it turns out that the limit is the total length of the names of the files being uploaded. Basically all the names are jammed into a single string, so its the string limit (which we chose but considered big enough). It is in line with the OS which also often has a limit like this. We have a Flex application that uploads large files. The restrictions on FileReference are a pain. I would also like to see other file upload options, like ftp etc. Right now it is just http.
