this getting left out. I don't remember anyone asking about it (Mes

it has worked fine so far.
I wish the I/O used balanced audio rather than unbalanced. That is my

Cables or operator error was my guess. I've checked and rechecked the

Thanks,

OK, I've been trying various settings and the clicks, which indicate
that the pre-amp has been switched off, still occur on the same
frequencies, but only on the High and Med settings. In Low and Off
there are no clicks.
Just after I loaded the latest svn the clicks were happening all over
One more thing. The output from the Firebox measures about 1.98V
during the audio TEST, nothing like the 6.93 hardwired into the set-up
form.
I can remember doing this measurement and getting nearly the same
results as you have.
I can't remember what the answer was but I think you are ok there.
Since you have the D44, go into Control Panel and selected the M-Audio
control panel.
On the Hardware Tab, set DMA buffer size to 512 and try again.

Hi Bill,
I click on the 'Sub RX' button, which enables the sub receiver and
automatically sums (in software) the sub receiver's audio with the main
receiver's audio. You can route the audio of either receiver to either your
left and right speaker (or both) by using the pan controls.

Thanks for the idea Bob,
I'm afraid it didn't make any difference. I set 512 in the M-Audio
hardware
Also, you can right click to select the A VFO (yellow cross hairs) or B VFO
(red cross hairs) and then just point to where you want that VFO to go.
Very handy!

I like the Sub Rx.
The pan sliders are proper Left and Right orientation here.
I take the Delta 44 output and feed it into an old high-end
Hi-Fi receiver. For dual receive, I can put one pan on Left
and the other pan on Right, depending on which speaker is
closer to the displayed signal. I

Hi John,
The Edirol board sounds great, and I'd very much like
to try one, but my computer, which I purchased from
Flex when I bought by SDR1000, does not have Firewire.
If I want to use the Edirol board with this computer
(a Dell), what would I need to do?
Are there any Firewire PCI cards
That is a good idea of having a list of cards know to work well.
I use a lot of Firewire Hard Disk at work and not all Firewire cards are
created equal, some are downright nasty and make your system crash. I'll
take a look as soon as I can. At work we bought a bunch of Dells with

I would like to try a FA-66. What do you think is meant by a late model
computer?

I take it that you will be letting your UK distributor know?
I do hope they don't sell too many Fireboxes in the next few weeks...
For any non-UK reader, I can let you see how the SDR1000, and the
'recommended' soundcards are marketed over here.

Hello,
I first noticed this in SVN686 and still in 689.
The Spectrum grid text dissapears in USB and CWU mode, if you select Align -
Left. (Setup, Display, Spectrum Grid.)
Using the default Align - Auto, then all is fine.
I tested with a new database-file. Same thing here. Only me??
73's
mode the width remains at 16kc. Would be nice to get back the
width, that I adjusted before.
Looking forward to all the new SVN's.

David,
If your computer has a firewire port it is probably a late model. We
recommend at least 3.0 GHz and I GB of RAM to use all the FA-66 features,
especially the 192 KHz sampling rate. The box will work fine with most
computers- PC and laptop in the 48, and probably 96, KHz modes.

Bob,
After reading your mail on this subject, I checked the audio buffer

reason that escapes me now. I also set the latency to 8 ms from 10
ms. The slight delay that was causing problems on the iambic keyer

Hi,
One use of the main and sub receivers is listening on the main to a
DX station and listening and transmitting on the sub, if the DX
station is using split. A key to this use is the ability to set the
bandwidth of the main and sub receivers independently which you can't
do through SVN
Charles,
These are very good enhancements. It is extremely practical to be able
to set the filters for both receivers independently.
