Allow me to caveat that idea with the following:
MP3 is a perfectly acceptable audio format for plain audio (post processed,
as we call it on the wave recorder). What Bob is referring to is preserving
Pre-Processed IF recordings that contain much more data than just the ~3kHz

John,
My post was meant to be a little tough n cheek, not intended to post a problem,
although true. I primarily use CW or digital ; my poor attempt was to point
out the superior receiver of the Flex SDR-1000.
For those reading this list that are still considering buying a Flex, still

MP3 will definitely induce some ugly phase distortions. I previously
recommended we use FLAC. There were some incorrect remarks made about
it not compressing well. These were baseless criticisms. We use less
than 1/2 of the bits most of the time in the 24 bit A/D samples so that

I think the generic answer is...any. Well, any that support floating point
wave files, that is. The wave file that is created is a standard wave file
that uses floating point values (instead of the typical integer values).
I use Cool Edit Pro. But you could use virtually any program including

What values are you using for the Audio Buffer and DSP Buffer? Have you
optimized the FA-66 buffers in the control panel? See FA-66 Quick Start
Guide on the knowledge base for details if not.
Assuming that the buffers are set appropriately, these kinds of issues are
nearly always related to RFI a
Mike,
Read the bottom of his e-mail. He is not reporting a problem with the SDR;
he is reporting a problem with all of the other rigs on the market.
The receiver in the SDR-1000 outperforms everything else out there. I can

When you run audiophile audio with the Flex it does not penetrate the
QRM/QRN. When running at these conditions, you should switch the transmit
profile over to a more aggressive profile that has the lows cut off and run
with some processing. I am a new owner of the Flex Radio and I noticed the
John,
The SDR is capable of sounding better, having more punch, and being more
affective than any other radio available today. I had them all and have done
side by side comparisons. I will be glad to help you and others [after Jan

Hello,
This is my first posting to the list. Im hoping that someone might have
an insight into the problem Ive encountered with my new SDR-1000. I
suspect the basic issue is RFI but it seems like an extreme case--maybe
something else is going on?. Any advice will be welcome.

John,
What kind of antenna are you using and what bands do you operate on? The
SDR-1000 rx sure is fantastic, doesn't take much of an antenna at all to
receive well, but on transmit could be a bit of a different story for any
rig. Band conditions too have been quite poor lately. Have you tried sid
One thing I have noticed after owning the SDR-1000 for 3 months , I receive

More,
If I use LSB on both MixW and SDR, the frequency readout is
ok. Turning VAC on lets MixW receive but no transmission. No
transmission or reception with VAC off. Both of these are proper,
but I will have to use DIG for any sound card digital mode. With
MixW and SDR both on LSB, the au
GM,
I usually use DIGU and MixW when operating digital modes, and the
frequency readout on MixW is fine. Today, there was a RTTY station
on, so I decided to use DIGL. On the SDR console, the carrier is set
to 7074.805 and on MixW it is set to 7077.000, an offset of 2.095
