Any clarification on use of vac to play with the audio between an FA66 and
the sdr?
At first glance, the FA66 almost seems to be built to work on the sdr and
refuse to talk to any other software!! Not really, but it does appear to be
a bit different.
Anybody have the plans for the wheel here?

I'm trying to use vac to insert an audio processor (vshaper) between the
fa66 and sdr1k. For some reason, pwrsdr won't even let me start by calling
the fa66 unsupported and copying the settings.
I really think that I'm barking up the wrong tree (to use a good southern
expression) and would
Jim,
We have a built-in interface for VAC in PowerSDR that will work for Vshaper
just like other third party digital mode programs. The knowledge base has
several articles with details on how to set this up.

Jim,
Problem #1 has little to do with the preferred quality of sound or
analog vs digital. Its about blocking out a weak signal when the AGC
responds to a very rapid rising, short pulse. It happens that some of
the newer DSP type radios have a AGC algorithm that trigger off this
short pulse. It

All,
I talked with Rob myself prior to Dayton. A common problem with AGCs is
that the AGC control voltage is developed after the IF filtering. This
limits the AGC response time (on attack, is the issue) due to the narrow
IF bandwidth. When a large RF pulse comes in, its envelope can rise

All,
The other issue that could be related to the radios with DSP at the IF
stages is attack time. It is not desirable to have too fast of an AGC
attack. The competing design considerations are the dynamic range on
the analog to digital converter and the cost.
