[Flexradio] Longwave Reception with Flex 5000

2009-01-25 Thread Harry Williams
Hi, I am wondering if any of you have attempted to use the Flex 5000 to receive longwave stations below 500KHZ. I have listened down in that range and the only thing I hear is BCI from the stations in the US broadcast band. I assume a filter is needed to reject the BC band interference. 73,

[Flexradio] Codec required to play back PowerSDR recordings?

Hello all. I've updated WMP to the latest version trying to play post-processed audio from a file that PowerSDR saved. PowerSDR loads and plays the file fine, but not WMP. The reason I wanted to do this was to fast forward into a long one hour recording I made while away from the house.

I use Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Which allows me to record, play, edit, convert to MP3, adjust level, etc.. I use it with TeamSpeak recordings to eliminate dead air, uhhs, off-topic conversations, amplify the guys with low levels, change the tempo without changing the pitch,

Hi Harry As I understand you will need one or more extra lowpass filters (or bandpass if you like). The spectum display below a 500 kHx is indeed interresting with all the mirror images ;-) A nice hobby project is the switching / tuning of the extra filters Happy experimenting 73s peter pa0pvn

I have resorted to disabling the keyboard shortcuts in PowerSDR when I run contests ( SetupOptions Keyboard ) This mostly works for me as a seldom use any of the shortcuts except the direct frequency entry. During the contest I have to use the band buttons to change bands/frequency. Al,

Harry, et al. Ah ha! I knew I couldn't be the only person interested in that 600 meter stuff who also has a 5000A! I wonder how long you've been trying to receive in this area? Five months before receiving my Flex5000A I had noticed the topic of low frequency operation sponsored by the

The best receiver I've used on the low end has been the SDR-IQ. Works well for bats as well (with the right transducer). 73 Ross K9COX ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz

Al: Excellent suggestion! I disabled all the single letter shortcuts. The only ones I would really miss would be Rit up (O) and Rit dn (I) Band and mode can be controlled from the logging program. I will see how this works during the next contest. Thanks again for the tip! Thanks Mark NU8Z

Guys All I can say is be careful. I went to this website and downloaded audacity. I did not run or install it but while on the website there were many pop-ups in spite of my Win XP pop up blocker being turned on. I'm pretty careful and never click the x to exit a suspicious pop up but rather
