I second Tim's comment on graphics card utilization. I installed a mid-range
graphics card- (Sapphire Radeon HD 5770, 1 gb memory, about $135) and watched
its utilization. Monitoring software shows less than 2% utilization (usually
zero) when using PSDR. I would boldy suggest that money
This behavior has been around since the PowerSDR 1.x days. I suspect it has
something to do with the GDI+, the class-based graphics API for C/C++
applications in VS.

First off, I'll add my disclaimer that anything I say here may be trumped by
Neal and you should take what he says as the absolute truth. He lives in this
trench daily. I stand on the outside and look in.
A CPU /mobo upgrade will make a big difference if you take a big enough leap.

I agree with all of this, it's very well thought-out and said. Very well
indeed. The only thing on which I beg to differ is the claim that multiple
cores add to context switching overhead. Actually, they don't... Windows is
VERY smart about context switching now, and takes into account some

Here's another little tidbit to put cores in practical terms: I sometimes run
a torture test called Prime 95. which uses FFT calculations to push the AMD CPU
to 100% utilization on all four cores. Even with all four cores heating up at
100%, I can still run PSDR 2.01.16 with no audio

On the other hand, if I start just one program with a high DPC driver, PSDR
freaks out, gives me quivering panadapter trace, and won't transmit until I
restart.

Hi All
I am scratching my head trying to figure out what I am doing
wrong trying to get DDutil , SPE 1k-FA and the flex 5000a talking to each
other and working. I am hoping someone has been successful in making this
work especially setting up autodrive etc. Is there a
I seem to have a problem with my filters.
On CW using a 25 cycle filter, I can copy signals 400 cycles outside the filter.
Also when I use the 400 cycle filter and move a signal just outside the filter
on the scope, the sound of the signal does not change as I select
filters down to 25 cycles.
Is there a way to set the maximum drive power for the flex-3000 so that It
cannot inadvertently overdrive an amplifier?
For a radio that is used in a clubroom by many users, it would be nice to be
able to set a maximum drive level so that we don't have to worry about a
new user accidentally
Jim,
Go to the SetupDSP form and check the CW RX buffer size. The larger the
buffer size, the sharper the filter. Lower sampling rates for a given
buffer size will increase filter sharpness at the expense of latency.
Hope that helps. Also, I would recommend upgrading to 2.0.16.

Are you asking for a way to lock the drive level at a particular setting? If
so I do not know of a way to do this. The operator has full access to all of
the console controls.

I don't think it exists either, we are looking for:
A way to lock the drive level at a particular setting
or a way to specify a maximum drive level. (ie, slider cant be set above
75%)
During contests the operator at the radio changes fairly frequently, and not
everyone is used to
This sounds like a really useful enhancement. You should enter it into the
enhancements database for consideration in a future version of PowerSDR or DI.

I see a feature request in your future . Sounds like something I would use too.

In the antenna selection tab,
When I start DDUtil the switch relay with TR selection for TX1, TX2 and TX3
uncheck.
Happens everytime I start DDUtil. Is there an option to select that will stop
this from
occurring?

I have made some improvement to my situation by overclocking the
2.13Ghz CPU to 3.01Ghz. I run this until after christmas and then get a
new board and CPU.
Many thanks for the info and suggestions.

I been following all this and agree with the Timbo-summary.
This anecdotal testimony reflexts general PC speedup instead of PSDR

If you substract the $150 for the operating system, that means the system
HW (less the monitor) is $248.. Not bad. and they showed a 19 monitor for
