I disconnected the antenna from my flex-3000 and I noticed about 2 S
points of noise on the receiver. I connected a dummy load and the noise
continued without an variation. I changed power supplies, disconnected
the earth, changed computers but no difference. The noise is on all

I suggest you take notes where the strongest signals are.
I have been using the Flex-5000A with the UV5K since the first 6 were made
on EME. I have used the Yaesu FT-847 and also a LT 2S MK2 German
transverter before that. I also had a FT-736. None of these compare to
the Flex-5000A with the UV5K. I think it is great.

I have a Flex 5k with the V/U module. I was using an FT-736 for 2 & 73 cm,
so I can't exactly compare the V/U module to transverters.
Actually, the V/U module IS two tranverters, except that they do not comvert
to ham bands.
