Hi all
I'm looking for a small and lightweight AC power supply to power my
Flex-3000 radio when travelling.
I'm thinking of a small switch mode supply but it will need to be very quiet
from an RF noise perspective.
Any recommendations for a power supply in this category?
Thanks and 73
Brian,
I have several Alinco DM-330MV supplies have never had any trouble with
them. The oldest one developed noisy fan bearings after about 9 years of
almost continuous operation, but that is the only hint of trouble I have had
with any of them.
I have never detected any RFI generated by
It is quite easy to remote the power on and off on the Flex 3000. The front
panel power switch toggles on and off. One merely depesses the switch to the
on position and the radio can be turned on and off by remotely applying 12
VDC to the radio. There are several manufacturers that produce
The SEC 1235M is also great. I have used it and its meterless cousin for
many years without any trouble. AES sells them (among others).

I have a F5K so don't go portable with it...but I do go portable with an
IC706iiG and bought one of these because of its size/weight:

I also like that it has some binding posts and a few PowerPoles.
For 25A it is TINY!

A more reliable method is to tack solder two wires to the back of the
switch. The wires can be brought out along the side of the front panel
without drilling any holes. You can attach a switch to these wires or simply
twist them together when you want to power up the 5000 remotely. I have

I Concur. I use these supplies also and they're excellent.

At home I use an ALINCO DM-340MV big supply.
For Field Day and other demonstrations I use a PowerWerx.com SPS-30DM very
small switching supply.
It has a digital voltmeter and ammeter and is adjustable from the front.
Have not heard (or seen) any noise yet.
