I don't see the problem here. We got years of upgrades that _no other ham
radio received whatsoever_.
You really can't expect life time dancing lessons for one low fee. No
hardware/software product in any market works like that. I spent decades
in the software business and I never saw that

Almost exactly, my sentiments, well said! Though there is a tiny voice
in my head shouting that, few K$ is an oxymoron.;-) . I only have a
few Flexradios, I upgrade, but skip the replace concept all together.
Just a 1k,5k, and 6.5k. I must have missed the 2k snd 4k, Lets hope we
don't
I can remember when Flex started their government venture and there were no
upgrades for Power SDR for the amateur market for aporxmately a year while
their software resources were directed at the next money maker!

Well Drax, when the lights go out, the candles come on. Hardly an apropos
comparison. No one ever said buy our candles, they will last forever. I love
my 5000A, but do chafe at the way the matter was handled. Glad I didn't buy a
5000A the week before the announcement and pay full price.
Calling it incomplete is a real S T R E T C H for me. There are always
things you can do but feature creep gives us monstrosities like Microsoft
Office and mystery problems that can never be fixed.
I think both flavors of PSDR are just about spot on for me. Still tough
competition for SmartSDR.
I agree that it could have many features added. I would enjoy that
immensely. The likelihood of Flex undertaking this is vanishingly
small. We need to bring the wake to a close and not be like my
relatives in the deep south who are still in denial regarding the
outcome of the war of northern
Gads- I remember those earlier Flex days with chills. Every day a new branch
of the user-coded PSDR code was released, de-bugged in this forum, and then
re-bugged with another release. It was the best of times, it was the worst of
times.
When Gerald got real and hired Steve and the gang, the
Flex is paying attention to their customer base. many Flexers are early
adopters of technology, many are always looking for the next new shinny
ball. Hence the number of Flexers selling 5Ks to buy into the new
shinny ball of the 6K series.
A Flex radio costs a few K$ and technological
My feeling is that the Flex 5000 is still incompleteI also feel that I
am not alone in this observation
