Good question Gary. VOX also helps you with a "stuck key" in the operation.
It would be nice if the SDR had a "stuck key timeout option" that would
disconnect after x minutes in a stuck key situation. I did have this happen
one time when I was tuning the outboard AT-Auto autotuner to go to a

about $150 each, but are great. One is for the radios, the other for the SGC.
