I'm not sure the first part of your post is consistent
with the last.
If you want to set up a UHF/VHF station with
transverters, by definition you will need to do some
tinkering. If you use mast mounted preamps for
example you need to sequence T/R. Guess what the SDR
does this, it has built in
ps getting better and better with every new software
release.
