[Flightgear-devel] Getting Sloppy in the C172P

I've done some work on the C172P JSBSim aero model to make the plane sloppier in slow flight, especially with the flaps extended. To try it out, start FlightGear with fgfs --aircraft=c172p-3d --altitude=3000 --vc=70 Now, extend full flaps and let the airspeed drop to around 50-55 KIAS.

David, Just playing around a bit ... Try flying with full rudder one direction and then try to compensate with aileron ... I got the model to go head over heels (so to speak) and other berzerk stuff with full rudder in flight. I've seen this done in an 1/3rd scale R/C model of an extra 300, but

David Megginson writes: At 70kt with no flaps, I get a nice forward slip as expected -- the ailerons can easily compensate for full flaps. I'm guessing that rudder has a little too much authority at high alpha and/or with full flaps. I'll look into it now. Please try it again now.
