I was just thinking, if you could determine the amount of cloud cover
between the sun and the viewpoint, you could adjust the light levels for
some neat effects. It would seem wrong when looking into the distance,
but I don't think it would be too noticeable. Perhaps there is a way to
only affect a small area, maybe the diameter of the aircraft.

With the UV mapped clouds, one could just draw a line to the sun and
measure the pixmap value at the intersection point. I'm not sure how to
do it with volumetric clouds.

Anyway, it would be neat to see the sunlight flashing on the inside of
the cockpit as you flew under some broken cloud cover. Just thinking out
loud.
