It may not be very well known, but FlightGear not only tracks the position of the sun, moon, and stars, but also those of the planets. This is done only for the 8 nearest planets, because there doesn't exist an accurate or simple, publically available model for pluto's orbit, or at least it wasn't available when I was working on it.
Interestingly,I just read the news that pluto's status has been demoted from "planet" to "small planetary object".
