[Flightgear-devel] Day 1: Out and back.

2008-03-25 Thread Curtis Olson
As some of you may know, I let myself get talked into a 16 day research
cruise sponsored by NOAA on the Oscar E. Sette. Today we did a quick out
and back to test various systems for the various projects on board.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) we head out for real. The Oscar Sette is docked in Pearl
Harbor on Ford Island right next to the historic wreck of the Utah. This
afternoon after we returned from our out and back, we walked over to the
Pacific Air Museum which is right on Ford Island and walking distance from
the ship. Here are some pictures of the day:

http://baron.flightgear.org/~curt/PhotoAlbums/OscarSette2008/http://baron.flightgear.org/%7Ecurt/PhotoAlbums/OscarSette2008/Oscar%20Sette%20Day%201/

You should be able to track us (possibly with a couple hour delay) at our
TrekMe.com page. We will also be blogging and posting links and pictures at
the the trekme site so click around on sub of the sublinks for more info:

http://trekme.com/oceandebris/trek-258-marine-debris

For my part we will be heading out to a suspected ocean debris convergence
zone and attempting to use a UAV with wireless video camera and computer
vision software to assist in the debris location and removal effort.

Hopefully the trekme site will be update our ship track in near real time
throughout the trip, and my photo album will be updated every couple days.
I should have some internet access while we are at sea, but I may be too
seasick to do anything useful with it. :-)

Regards,

Curt.

 Hi all,

A few days ago the data in cvs was reorganised with several directories
being moved from Models to AI/Aircraft. This not only broke the carriers
(because the move wasn't completed correctly), and lumped ships and
aircraft in the same directory, but also misunderstood the purpose of the
AI/Aircraft directory. This is intended to hold lightweight models for
use by the AI Traffic Manager and Multiplayer, usually, but not
exclusively, in the form of xml wrappers which actually point elsewhere,
either to the appropriate Aircraft or Models directory. It was not intended
to be a heap for anything which didn't fit conveniently elsewhere. This
change has neither been discussed nor agreed.

Subject to there being no substantive objections here, I intend to revert
this change over the coming weekend. This has been discussed with and
agreed upon by fellow core developers, This is also the consensus view on
 *IRC*.

Now, this probably isn't the best solution, and putting ships under
Models/Geometry is, to say the least, a bit eccentric. So we can work on
deriving a better answer, once we have got back the status quo ante.

I have done with (with some problems) the come back of Foch to Geometry
directory.
I need it here in order to include some extra ships and variants.

However i can't update/remove the AI/Aircraft/Foch directory content (files
and directory) i get the following message:
cvs [commit aborted]: could not open lock filePermission denied

Does somebody who has an higher authorization, can do it .

Thanks

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Scenery 1.0.0 coastline is not processed

2008-03-25 Thread Jocelyn Couetdic
Hello everyone :)

2008/3/19, Ralf Gerlich [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

However, the faulty tiles - tiles which should show only ground where
there should be ocean as well - are bugs, not inaccuracies.

I spotted another type of faulty tile : ocean where there should be ground,
@ N47°56 W04°07
Check out Quimper's airport (LFRQ) : it's hovering over the sea.

I am interested in reports about straight ground tiles in the ocean or
in lakes, as Gerard reported in his original mail:

Some locations in France (I give lat, long somewhere in the middle of the
faulty tile, and an airport nearby) :
Near Bordeaux
45.50 , -1.11 (LFCY, LFDK, LFIV)
45.08 , -0.67 (LFDU, LFBD, LFDY)
45.87 , -1.25 (LFCD)

Near Brest
47.93 , -4.11 (LFRQ)
48.18 , -4.62 (LFRL)

I hope you'll find without too much trouble the bug behind all this.

Cheers

Thank you for your reports. As reported, I have already found the
problem and now I am searching for a fix. However, these reports will
also help me find out whether my fix - once implemented - is successful,
so keep reporting, I am collecting them.

Cheers,
Ralf
