Re: [Flightgear-devel] Material shader problem?

I'll take a look. It could be that the default shaders are using constructs
that aren't supported on older hardware, or provoke bugs there, or are buggy
themselves in ways that don't show up on post G80 hardware.

From my personal perspective this would be nice to have, but I don't
call this being an 'urgent' item. If I really feel I need these
shaders, then I'll simply put another graphics card - until then I'll
leave the shaders out by default (as I used to do before).
Nevertheless, if you need a test, give me a shout.

[Flightgear-devel] Am I the only one experiencing dropping framerates?

2010-10-31 Thread fierst42
The GIT version of this morning feels like something seriously changed
affecting the framerate...

I am departing runway 32 KNUQ and turning west to 270. Shortly after
takeoff, I am getting just 7 FPS.
Local weather is disabled, global weather is on live data, most shaders
are turned on.

I have made flights near EHAM this morning and got the same feeling...
FPS dropping to 8-9.

Flying over the ocean with nice clouds around me, I am getting over 70 FPS.

It seems that the framerate is dropping near scenery with many objects.
Switch on local weather and the framerate drops to 1 from time to time.

For previous versions, I do not recall such a dramatic FPS drop near
well populated scenery anywhere, except over Paris.

Some noticed already that the improved Urban Shader let drop the fps a lot.

[Flightgear-devel] PLUG IN for glass cockpit displays

2010-10-31 Thread James J. Brennan
I've been using the project magenta glass cockpit displays in my simulator
here for some time

They at one time needed the Microsoft flight simulator in order to operate.

I recently discovered a plugin that allows them to now operate with the
x-plane simulator.

I've long hoped that there would be a way to use those displays with
FlightGear, and wonder if anyone has any ideas as to how that could be
accomplished.

Here is a link to the plugin page if you are interested in pursuing this

I'm not sure if they have a public/free |FS,XP]UIPC API- and
interface-description - I did a quick search but was unable to find
one.

not that I'd be willing to implement an FSUIPC-compatible

[Flightgear-devel] F/A-18 Hornet Model

2010-10-31 Thread Jack Mermod
Hi,
I've been trying to get the F-18 model off of the Vinson, but this
has proved difficult in Blender. Can anybody with AC3D pull the FA-18
model off of the vinson.ac, and post it here? That would really help.
When I pull it off in blender, it doesn't keep the texture mapped
right, and the texture(along with the license) is one of the main
reasons I want that model.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi, Jack

The original and detailed model of the FA-18 by Flyingtoaster is here:

http://www.maison-capestang.com/fg/flyingtoaster/fa-18step5.blend

It is a blender model and it doesn't have any texture maping.

The model you have on the Vinson is a static version I have made from
the original model, this less detailed model is a low poly not really suited
for doing a real aircraft. no flaps, no ailerons etc... But it is textured
(my work). If you need a static model to add some crowd on a tarmac,
it's perfect. It is an ac3d file. You will also find a .xcf gimp file of the
texture inside the archive.
