Is it possible that post-OSG all fdm's are snappier ? I've no hard
evidence but I seem to be able to overspeed the c310-ifr much more easily
sine I got an OSG build; no complaints, it's a lot easier to follow the
LLZ lately too.

[Flightgear-devel] c310-ifr

2007-02-01 Thread polly
Hello,
I think the recently changed Aircraft/c310/c310.xml must be copied onto
it's clone
in Aircraft/c310u3a/ .. c310-ifr fails at startup in today's CVS. Thanks, p

At a guess: Is the 1280x1024 setting causing your adapter to run at 256

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Re: FG Live progress

2006-04-05 Thread polly
If opinions seem inexpensive then maybe it's a sign that folks can only
hope

to contribute in some to what is a truly impressive production.

I wonder if the 'signs' addon could be included, it's very reassuring
for a beginner.
If the signs also included VOR/ADF ID's and frequencies then learning to
operate

the nav instruments could become intuitive.

I hesitate to mention that my machine goes into fibrillation very
easily if I
try to run Atlas concurrent with fgfs, no doubt because I try to include
half

 a continent on the map.

Adding anything to a grub menu is hazardous to say the least, perhaps
menu's

 should stay in user space.
I use fluxbox exclusively, was taught to use words instead of pointing.
Fluxbox

allows for easy and extensive menu and keyboard customization.

As regards locations, I'm sure it's not alone in having all the
thrills of
intersecting runway traffic, but KBOS is set up with an ADF five or so
miles out

from the end of each runways centre line which is a great help in learning
proper technique. Simple AI traffic in 20 degree banks at low alititude
and the Nimitz in the hahbah makes this place the most fun sine I sold
 my Hornby Dublo !

 Much appreciation to all.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] cvs make errors

2006-04-02 Thread polly
I'm sure someone knows the details better, do you have alut.h in
/usr/local/include ?

I ended up using their ( openAL's) rpms for openAL and Alut.
It looked to me as if when I switched from 'linux' to 'portable' CVS
there was stuff left behind in /usr/local/include from previously, causing
build problems.
In the end I hid the source, usr/local/include/AL and installed openAL's
rpms.

For me, at least, on the Bravo: the left botton click on decrease ADF
frequency
hotspot does nothing; middle button decrease and both increase ADF
frequency hotspot

work fine. It doesn't look like a panel.xml omission. FC-4,nv, freeglut

[Flightgear-devel] Sound

2006-03-14 Thread polly

Hi,
I seem to get a rather graceless crash with a slew of this message :

  Failed to load wav file:
at The operation was invalid in the current ALUT state
  . [ and then: ]
Error loading MK VIII sound sample application-data-base-failed.wav

Then the splash screen, and fgfs just dies tm

This is with --disable-sound but it looks as if the recent ATC files are
still

trying to load. I _know_ there is another sound app running; I'm trying to
debug my .asoundrc file in order to get fgfs running simultaneously with
 liveatc.

Shouldn't --disable-sound prevent this kind of crash ?

 Tks p

[Flightgear-devel] Mouse patch

2006-02-16 Thread polly

With respect,
The new mouse seem a little disconcerting, it jumps after only 25
percent movement
from center to mid screen. I use the mouse ( exclusively) too and I've
found that
reducing sensitivity to about 1.2 works for me, allowing large easy hand
movement
without inadvertant barrel rolls and more importantly without muscle
tremor that fine
control seems to aggravate. This setting does however tend to use a lot of
pointer travel.
Would you consider putting the 'mouse jump' closer to the screen edges,
say at
95 percent ? Even better would be some log-sensitivity roll off at the
edges
so the mouse never trangressed while near the edges senitivity
progressively

increases.

Thanks and appreciation to all, Polly
