Re: [Flightgear-devel] Impressions from LinuxTag

2007-06-07 Thread Matthias Boerner
Hallo John,

it will happen... I had to save the files from the original computers
and had to prepare them for transportation back to SUN the last days.
Hopefully it will be today or tomorrow.

But I will post them definitely.

I'd prefer to have both files as a sample in the Docs section of the FG
base package,

Martin.

Hallo Stuart,

we had two SUN Ultra 40 workstations each with two dual core Opterons
280, 8GB of memory and two Nvidia Quadro FX 3500 graphic cards. The
monitors were four SUN 20,1" TFT displays with a resolution of
1600x1200.

You only have to configure your xorg.conf file with four screens and
there is a section in the preferences.xml file in the FlightGear data
directory configuring four cameras for osgViewer. I will post both
files tomorrow on the list or I can document it in the wiki.

Greetings

"5.4.1: Each instance of FlightGear can support a single display."

This is not true anymore. At LinuxTag we had four displays connected to
a single machine running a single instance of FlightGear (actually we
had two of these setups). I guess we'll see some instructions showing
up in the public before too late,

Martin.

Hi,

The setup was a single machine, multiple graphics cards setup built with
osgViewer. Not a multi machine each with an single display like
described in the wiki.

Sorry, I do not have more detailled information.

It's not a particularly new feature, and it's documented in The Manual:

http://www.flightgear.org/Docs/getstart/getstartch5.html#x10-710005.4

... as all good features should be ;)

Are there any instructions / recipes for using the new multi-display
capability? I can puzzle it out from looking at the properties that it
uses :) but I was wondering if there was an easier way; even better,
what were the settings in use at the booth?

[Flightgear-devel] Impressions from LinuxTag

2007-06-03 Thread Olaf Flebbe
Hi,

I enjoyed the booth at LinuxTag in Berlin very much.

Thanks for all the efforts getting two cockpits together, the refined
Berlin scenery, the Dragonfly, excellent flight instructions and so much
more ... IMHO it was one of the most attractive booths at LinuxTag.

I uploaded some pics from the LinuxTag 07 in Berlin.

Cheers,
