Why not offer both schemes? One for those who used it
as an alternative to MSFS and X-Plane and one more for
science?

simulate a Panavia Tornado's Terrain Following system?
Or a better ground follwing of AI-vehicules?

Yep -that's exactly the sort of thing I was referring to. The Panavia Tornado
uses a lookahead radar to evaluate the terrain and build an elevation
profile, upon which it overlays a ski-toe curve flight envelope. The terrain
avoidance system ensures the flight envelope avoids the terrain by
