I'm sure all the details are still in the archives. Essentially, SF is
great in that it provides a wonderful service to open source projects
who have no resources. However, they aren't perfect. They have
glitches, problematic unresolved issues (i.e. anonymous cvs access) and
occasionally make hard to tolerate administrative decisions (i.e. forced
reply to non-munging on mailing lists.) These can all be worked with if
you have no other options, but in our case I decided I'd be a lot
happier running my own servers. That doesn't eliminate glitches, and we
probably have our own set of unresolved issues and I'm sure I make my
share of interolerable administrative decisions, but I'm a lot happier
with us running our own servers.

Regards,

Curt.

I just remembered another one: "Say Again?"

I agree, but we have more time. Even though it sounded good, the reservation
I had was that even though we all know the connection, it is really too
generic. First thing I thought of was "NewsForge".

Maybe it would be good to focus on something maybe a little less clever but
serves to promote the project...by making sure "FlightGear" is in the name.
Kind of like the "OpenOffice.org Newsletter", except maybe just a bit more
catchy than that. "MozillaNews" is another example and they even have a cute
little airplane logo: mozillanews.org :-)

Best,

Jim
