I've tried all sorts of openalrc files with or without --disable-sound but stil get complaints about openal settings on startup. If someone has a working .openalrc file for 2/4/(5.1) speakers, which uses alsa (or oss-emulation or at a push arts) would they please drop it to me. I think my problem is that I have a NForce3 board and the support is lacking for OpenAL to run my sound chip in it's native mode. Otherwise non-OpenAL sound works fine on my system. Re: [Flightgear-devel] Success! Many thanks to all ! Couple questions...
Vikki, Congrats, welcome to the club. :-) Curt. Victoria Welch writes: Hello Everyone, I am pleased to report success building FG! To all who were so graciously helpful, THANKS, your efforts are very much appreciated! The only thing left is getting my joystick calibrated again, I made the mistake of removing the RPM of the old version and I didn't save the configuration file for that :-(. Probably really doesn't matter much since it was still a long way from right :-). I guess I'll get used to the text configuration with time. The only real question at this point is how often should I be checking the cvs(s) for updates? Would it be a good idea to subscribe to the announce list or the CVSLogs mailing list(s) for this purpose? Just in case anyone is interested here is the output from /usr/bin/time for the make: 1623.04user 53.23system 29:11.39elapsed 95%CPU (0avgtext+0avgdata 0maxresident)k0inputs+0outputs (738964major+4147118minor)pagefaults 0swaps It was huge :-) but stripping it helped quite a bit! Anyway, off to try to beat the joystick into shape! It will be nice to get the left wing out of the dirt :-). Again, thanks for all the help!
