under Linux:
export JAVA_HOME=(path to your JDK directory)(f.e. export
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk131)
under Windows: (at the command line)
set JAVA_HOME=(path to your JDK directory) (f.e. set

If you use jdk1.3.1 on Linux try jdk1.3.0!
Because, jdk1.3.1 has problems with some Linux-Systems.
I had the same problem on my SuSE-Linux-7.2.
I installed jdk1.3.0 and now everything runs perfect.

maybe you might have a different parser on your linux machine.
I always run into
If you run Cocoon2rc1a, Tomcat-3.2.3, FOP-0.20.1, Apache-1.3.20 and wonder
why external-graphics does not work. Then you have to install Tomcat-4.0.1
!
That is the way to solve this little problem.
