I'm not sure I understand the whole problem, yet (symptoms and all), but I agree that the multiplicator doesn't look right. What confuses me is that you mention configuration of custom fonts in userconfig.xml. This is currently not implemented in FOP Trunk. Still, even when using default fonts like
