Using divide-and-conquer I narrowed the paragraph that was causing the error down to the following DocBook:
<article><para> Focus allows the user to designate the window to receive data from input devices such as the keyboard (and sometimes the mouse too). In situations where the user has a screen reader, focus may also designate the particular window or application to receive information about. The focused window is considered the window the user is currently "working with". GNOME applications should function properly with three different mechanisms by which windows can receive focus: click to focus, point to focus, and selection of focus using the keyboard. Allowing "point to focus" places </para></article> I've attached the .fo file this generates. Now here's where things get bizarre... Deleting any word prior to the last quote mark makes the error go away. Furthermore, deleting the last quote mark itself (or replacing it with pretty much any other character) causes the error to go away. On the other hand, deleting the last word does not cause the error to go away. If somebody else wants to actually track this bug down and fix it they're welcome to, but its not going to be me ;-) See the previous message for details about my system, FOP version, etc. -Seth
