Looking at the website for XMLBeans, http://dev2dev.bea.com/technologies/xmlbeans/overview.jsp, Apache should be careful--this looks like a failed technology that doesn't have a sufficient user base for BEA to continue with.
BEA appears to want to avoid a black eye it would get from its user base in dropping a technology that it was previously heavily promoting to them. But sometimes these black eyes are called for; they give companies pause before hyping new technologies every six months for developers to learn. Another problem is XMLBeans' premise--XML & XSLT are too difficult to use and must be masked--this may not be compatible with what XML-Apache is trying to accomplish. XMLBeans are dead--and one organization, BEA or Apache, sooner or later will have to get the black eye in discontinuing them--I'd rather it be BEA! Glen --- "Peter B.
