Dear Arjun,

you will find in the log output that the characters you requested is not
available in the font you requested, and therefore a '#' symbol is used, so
this is not a bug.

There is currently no option to change the '#' character. If you really need
this option, feel free to re-open this bug and rename it to 'wish: set
character for missing glyph'
