hey waddya know... tried this : removed the border defs from the
header & voila
no gap and no misalignment.

What could be some possible reasons that would cause a footnote to not appear in
a document? I am using several different "simple page masters" with a
conditional page sequence.
1) I was wondering if I do not have a required region defined in my simple page
master to display the footn
