(This is a work-around until markers are fixed.) What you need to do is put one marker at the beginning of the block and another at the end. FOP complains about this with a warning but still processes it. You can then use <fo:retrieve-marker retrieve-class-name="className" retrieve-position="first-including-carryover"/>
