Hi Christian,
the plugin 3.1.0 enables MWE 2 only for Maven 3 / Tycho based
workflows, not with Maven 2. Everything else is untested. Sculptor
uses a Maven 2 based workflow, but consult those dependencies:

You can use 3.2.0-SNAPSHOT instead.
