i'm forwarding the following conversation to this list on request... the problem was lack of disk space and this was discovered when the linker was linking a newly built Lazarus... nothing in the error indicated a drive space problem...

this might have been a drive space problem... i got down to less than 2M
available and discovered it after running into this problem... i shall try the
above .bat again and see what happens...

i guess i should also report this over on fpc-devel??

Yes. Maybe the compiler can give a nicer error message for no free disk
space.
