I love using DBF for demos because I don't need any database server or 3rd party DLL/SO files etc. It is also one of very few database systems that can be fully compiled into a [small] FPC based executable with ease. Afaik, all units in the dbf package were maintained by the same person and since he gave up on the package, all of its units are indeed deprecated.
