Thanks for the link. tiOPF can also be used for storing data in CSV, TAB
or XML, and you use it exactly like you do for a RDBMS. But the more
important point is, that doing so causes a 3rd party dependency (tiOPF
or ZMSQL). With DBF, it comes standard with FPC - I like that.

Same here! I love using DBF for demos because I don't need any database
server or 3rd party DLL/SO files etc. It is also one of very few
database systems that can be fully compiled into a [small] FPC based
executable with ease.

Yes, several open bug reports for it were closed when it was deemed deprecated.
Afaik, all units in the dbf package were maintained by the same person and
since he gave up on the package, all of its units are indeed deprecated.

Hi,

The unit dbf is marked as deprecated in fpc 2.6.2.

The unit bufdataset uses unit bufdataset_parser, which uses the
units dbf_prscore and dbf_prsdef and so forth.

Those units are not marked deprecated. Are they still maintained?

Do they need maintenance ?

Does dbf need maintenance?

I would think not.
I am extremely surprised to see it marked 'deprecated'.

Afaik there was some activity on the corresponding (tdbf) sf account the
last month, and a request to change ownership to a new developer.
