"FrameMaker has detected a problem and must quit" Really?! - support for networked drives

2013-02-14 Thread rebecca officer
Hi Kapil As in the Framer's post below, Ken's been told by Adobe support that FM11 isn't happy with working across networked drives. This has - not surprisingly - created consternation on the list. It seems very unlikely to be true, but can you please reply and confirm or deny it? Many thanks

cannot generate PDF

Hi Bill Make sure neither page 17 or 18 has an extra copy of the main text frame on it. You can check this by control-clicking on the text frame to select it, then deleting it. If there's still a copy on the page, that's a duplicate. I've seen that problem cause Distiller errors in the past.

Framemaker 11 crashes constantly when I generate a RH project

Hi Laura I can't help with the RH problem, but just wanted to mention that late last year I spent a few weeks trialling TC4 for outputting a 3000-page FM book as HTML. In the end, I switched to MIF2Go instead and found it hugely easier to use, with better output. Cheers Rebecca >>> Laura

Hi judy In your maker.ini file, you can set FM to display onscreen using print settings. If you do that and have Adobe PDF as your default printer, it might make FM have the same pagination onscreen as in the PDF. Well found on the rest - empty text boxes can be a pig to track down. Cheers
