Press the Alt key and type your Unicode, then release the alt key. That only works for the 256 extended ASCII characters for me. How are you entering the Unicode characters with higher values, such as U+0416? Alt-416 and Alt-0416 both produce characters, but neither are the correct Unicode

Mike, For U+0416, you normally do alt/0,4,1,6 . I have already heard of such problems as you describe because of Windows' bad implementation of Unicode at lower levels. That might be sometimes related to interaction with a specific font. Have you tried switching fonts? You might also have a look

It embarasses me to say, this, really it does, but … I looked in the Office online help!!! To enter a Unicode character, enter codeALT+X. For instance, to type €, the Euro symbol, type 20ac then press ALT+X. It works in Office 2007; I don't know about earlier versions. = Mike Bradley
