I noticed also often that conditions are still shown in the
book condition list, although they were deleted in all files.
Updating the book or MIF washing did not help.
I did not find any rule. If it bothers you, then save the book
file as MIF, open it with a text editor and delete
Classification: NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED
I put $lastpagenum in the Master pages of the last file (text colour
white so it doesn't show) in its own para format. Then I insert x-refs
to that paratag in the other files in the book. I can send you samples
off-list if you like.

content within text insets. For some unknown reason, they periodically get
broken when i do an update. Then, I have to manually update the broken links
