Oddly enough, you can only save as either a Version 10 or version 7 when
saving as a .mif file.
If your target version is FrameMaker 5, 6, or 7 use MIF7.
If your target version is FrameMaker 8 or later, be sure to use MIF10.

MIFWash utility to s8 ave files (like in a book) to MIF.
And a sample ExtendScript that's supposed to ship with 10 is supposed
to do the same thing.
So you save to MIF 10, and when it's opened in 8, 8 ignores whatever
it doesn't

was advertised as primarily task based authoring (oXygen), but it turns out
there is a good deal of legacy work to be performed periodically in Frame.
