Oddly enough, you can only save as either a Version 10 or version 7 when saving as a .mif file. If your target version is FrameMaker 5, 6, or 7 use MIF7. If your target version is FrameMaker 8 or later, be sure to use MIF10. Background: The text encoding changed with the introduction of

Hi Keerthi, FM7 text exchange via clipboard with non-CP1252 text is not possible. You can paste your text in Word, apply the target font (Gulim, Arial, etc.) save it as RTF and open/import that RTF file in FM7. For non-Asian text (Russian, Greek etc.), ensure that you have virtual fonts activated

And to make it easier, omsys.com's eval version of MIF2GO includes a MIFWash utility to s8 ave files (like in a book) to MIF. And a sample ExtendScript that's supposed to ship with 10 is supposed to do the same thing. So you save to MIF 10, and when it's opened in 8, 8 ignores whatever it doesn't

Greetings, I've been out of the Frame pool for the last several years. My newest gig was advertised as primarily task based authoring (oXygen), but it turns out there is a good deal of legacy work to be performed periodically in Frame. They are all using 9, but I'll be using 10 and saving
