template
(to answer your question as to why, i was following a tutorial given to me
by someone, but obviously i am doing something wrong somewhere..)

i will try this.
the thing is: my chapter has a first, right and left page. does all of this
get applied when i import page layouts from chapter to toc? only the right
and left seem to get applied.
i want the first page of the TOC to have a text frame that is
FM10 won't save to FM8 binary via the Save dialog, but it can do it via
ExtendScript (FM10's new built-in scripting language).

but here is a curious thing:
in the TOC, after some chapters, suddenly the *first *heading 1 of chapter
n+1 gets listed as the *last *heading of chapter n.

i created the appropriate tab stops using the para designer etc. i followed
the correct steps to format the TOC entries on the reference page.
what i am talking about when i say lose formatting is a total loss of all
