One approach would be to convert the Markdown to XML which could then be
imported into structured FrameMaker. You could use XSLT or ExtendScript to do
this. oXygen actually has a built in way to convert Markdown to DITA.

My client gave me Markdown and PDF files.
Does anyone know a way to convert markdown files into FM and retain their
formatting? I know I can import the MD files directly into FM using the Text
converter - but that leaves them unformatted - the PDF looks really nice.
He wants the files
We do have a unique version number, of course, so that we ourselves and
the technical support team can keep track, but the actual history of
changes to the documentation goes in the release notes. We do not want
that in the documentation itself.
