Thank you Klaus
Yes, I had already found this page on your website when I googled around
for "import dwg in FrameMaker". And "severe problems" is what I would try
to avoid, so I think I'll stick with exporting the AutoCad drawings to PDF
(or SVG) and import those in Fm.
Thanks!

I think you can export it as a U3D file and import that. It’s been awhile but I
remember doing that years ago when my SME’s used Autocad.

No, that won't work. BUT, AutoCad can export EPS files which import and
print extremely well. That's the method I always use.

Try File>Import>Object instead of File>Import>File.
I think that should work.

There have been many versions of the .dwg format: that might be the root of the
problem. I've not had anything to do with .dwg, b
Well, AutoCad (DWG) is in the list of file formats in the Import dialog, so
I suppose Frame should be able to import it.
Our current workaround is to export the AutoCad drawings to PDF and import
PDF, which works nicely.

Is frame supposed to be able to import that format?
One option is to open it in CorelDraw and save it as CorelDraw.

Hi group
Has anyone ever succeeded in importing AutoCad .dwg files into FrameMaker?
I've tested this with several versions of dwg files (2000 and 2010) and
Frame 11 and 12, but I keep getting the error message "The filter
encountered an error and could not complete the translation".
Thanks
