Hi, Looks like you've tried everything, but just in case, look in the folder that contains the file for a .auto extension, or for a file with an odd extension of a collection of letters and numbers. If you find either, copy it and then either try to open it with FM or change the extension to .fm

Hi all - I really appreciate all the suggestions. A couple people have asked to see the file but it's confidential material from a client so I can't send it out. Nothing worked as far as opening it (except opening it in a text editor) so I recreated it from the previous version. Thanks again!

Sorry, but changing the extension does *not* convert the file format. The .fm file format is binary, while the .mif format contains only ASCII text. Merely changing the filename extension will not covert binary to ASCII.   -Fred Ridder Apology accepted. Nadine

Hi - I have corrupt FrameMaker 10 file. The backup is also corrupt, as is the offsite backup. None will open. I've tried Open Heroic and Wash Via MIF. No luck. I have a version that's 3 weeks old but I'd really like to get at the material in the corrupted file. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
