To execute 'save as PDF' command you must have Acrobat Distiller 5.05 or higher installed
Hi group I've got Fm11 and Acrobat Distiller 9 installed on Windows 7 Professional, all patched up. Sometimes, when I try to save a book as PDF, I get the error message saying: To execute 'save as PDF' command you must have Acrobat Distiller 5.05 or higher installed. But all is well again when I quit and restart FrameMaker. Must be a known bug, because I have found similar posts from 2010 in other FrameMaker groups too. Any ideas? David, The only time I've ever experienced the behavior you are describing is if I had been running FrameMaker with more than one monitor and had some menus (e.g. Para Designer / Char Designer) displayed off of the main monitor. That is probably not the cause for you. What you are experiencing is definitely not normal, with FrameMaker 12. When you first start FrameMaker, if you invoke the paragraph designer via Format menu or shortcut (Control-m) the menu should simply appear, docked in the right hand side of screen. FM 12 has a new feature that enables you to save selected files when you quit FrameMaker. When you restart FrameMaker, you can use a Restore last session command: it will open the last documents you saved and even display the same zoom level and the same page that you were on. Pods will be in same display. Floating windows caused all kinds of problems for me in FM10. I gave up and just adapted to the less efficient default docked UI settings. Conditional text - looks like there are some big differences between 9 and 12
That tutorial for FarmeMaker 9 has been working pretty well for me until now, because there appear to be some big differences in the interface for conditional text tags. The tutorial for FM9 says to click the Apply button at the top of the list of tags and select the in radio button -- but neither of these things are included on that window for 12. Also, FM 12 includes a State check box that isn't in the FM9 interface.
