Re: framers Digest, Vol 101, Issue 24
Does this mean that if the errant frame was the earliest created (ever, if copied from a previous document? or just in this document?), that FM encounters that frame first? Seems to contradict the explanation at the link below (... adding a second container would place it after the existing container in the search order...). If the errant frame is not in flow A, shouldn't FM encounter it after all of flow A? Either way, I would have expected the errant frame to appear at the end of the correct chapter set, not before it. The errant frame has NO flow tag. If I connect it at the end of the last frame in the document, it will gain flow A status. Should I manually assign flow B instead? Neither would place it correctly, but it would at least remain under its correct chapter. A TOC is just a file consisting of a long list of x-refs, formatted according to their pgf tags. When they appear out of the expected order in the TOC, it means that FM is encountering them in that order because of the way it parses frames and flows. RE: Using XML with FrameMaker
Max, Correct me if I'm wrong, but during the webinar introducing FM12 some weeks back, didn't they show that you could switch to this mode in FM (as some kind of menu choice) so that you are effectively running FM XML Author 12? I know that this is much less powerful than the full FM12 Structured, so you really don't want to do this because you are effectively restricting the functionality of the product you have. But the advantage of this is that you can (without installing something new, risking conflict, etc. etc) see exactly what FM XML Author gives you to work with. This can be great for evaluating whether it will be useful in your particular situation or not. One further note on Structured FM usage: I routinely work on unstructured documents, but my FM 11 (at work) and FM 10 (at home) are both set to start up in structured mode. Except for appearance of the extra menu choices, working in structure mode does not affect the ability to work in unstructured document. Those don't get in my way and I can work seamlessly on either kind of document. Thanks. Structured FrameMaker 11 Console Font Error Message Displays when postscripting and creating PDFs
In my office we are using Structured FrameMaker 11 in a Windows 7 environment. A co-worker is encountering an error message when creating postscript files from Structured FrameMaker 11 files to send to the printer. The FrameMaker console displays the following message: The Times Font is not available. It will be replaced by Times New Roman. This error message does not display when the FrameMaker template is opened, or when the xml file that is imported into the FrameMaker template is imported. I created a MIF file of the FM11 template and neither Times or Times New Roman is included in the template. The problem seems to occur when postscripts or PDFs are created. I noticed the error message displaying on my computer when I created a PDF with registration marks. When I viewed the pdf there is file information that appears at the top of the PDf near the registration marks that includes the file name, date, and time. This information appears as Times New Roman. When the co-worker created a PDf without using registration marks, the font error message still displayed. I added the following line of code to my maker.ini file: Times, *, *, *=Times New Roman, *, *, * and this appears to have eliminated the font error message from displaying. I'd like to determine where this Times font or the reference to times exists so that I can eliminate it altogether. Times does not appear to be in the FrameMaker templates, the EDD, or the read/write Rules. Is there a systems file that FM11 launches when creating postscripts and PDFs that might contain code that references Times instead of Times New Roman? Any help with resolving this will be appreciated.
