I think DropBox has a "professional" or "business" option. Not sure if it
would work for check-in/out type of use.

Re: [Framers] Anyone using OneDrive as a repository?

2016-03-10 Thread Robert Lauriston
That works only with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

For smooth collaboration, you really want a lock option on the server
side, like you get with Subversion and every other revision control
system I've used except Git.

Ah - that was it. That's the first time that's happened to me in the
years that I've been using Frame. Many thanks to both Rick and
Penelope who made the suggestion.

Thanks much,

Hi

Frame 8.0p277
Windows 8.1 (dang its eyes anyway...)

I tried a Find and Replace thing, and now I have a problem.

I did a Find and Replace . It was successful.

Now if I try to use that dialog again, even for a simple Find Text, I get an
error: "Select the text in which you want to find and change, and try again."

If I Select All and attempt the Find, then it works. I so don't want to do all
that every time I need to find something in the document.

Even more sadly, the autobackup copy was saved after this broke. And dang
Windows 8.1 because if I still had Win7, a shadow copy likely would have
existed to fix it.

Help!

Re: [Framers] Anyone using OneDrive as a repository?

2016-03-10 Thread Robert Lauriston
StarTeam is a revision control system. Microsoft's counterpart is Team
Foundation Server, which is fine if you're already paying for it
through a MSDN subscription or whatever. Subversion (SVN) is probably
the most popular alternative.

OneDrive is MS's answer to Google Drive and Dropbox. I don't think any
of those is a good choice as a repository for shared files when you
want to make sure only one person edits them at a time. Even as a
single user I've run into file locking conflicts that were a pain to
resolve.

FM 15 includes built in support for Dropbox.
Might want to look at that with the version control option -- I don't

[Framers] Anyone using OneDrive as a repository?

2016-03-10 Thread Michael Norton
Anyone using Microsoft OneDrive as a repository for Frame, RoboHelp, Word,
graphics, and PDF documentation files?

Looks like I've been given the task of moving from our current repository
(StarTeam) to something else, preferably OneDrive. I'm mainly using StarTeam as
a backup location, so no content management capabilities are needed. Simple
check in/check out for one to two writers should suffice. I'm not familiar with
OneDrive and maybe some of you are, any suggestions or critiques would be
welcome.
