Re: [Framers] Pod Font Size
Oran Petersen's discovery, that it is right-clicking on the Framemaker master file in Programs(x86) > Adobe that reveals the Compatibility tab, rather than right-clicking on the shortcut, has finally enabled us to *locate* the elusive "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" checkbox! However, what we now find is that checking and unchecking this checkbox does nothing whatever to enlarge the too-tiny font size of Frame pods. I still must put on my 3-diopter pair of reading glasses, and must bring my eyes right up next to the display screen (like two or three inches from the monitor), in order to make out the tiny letters. (The letters are just as *crisp* whether the checkbox is checked or empty, but they are also just as *tiny*.) It turns out, this is not a solution. The only solution that has worked for me, so far, is to have one monitor set to 3840x2160 native resolution, for the work file itself, and the other monitor degraded to 2560x1600, for displaying only the pods. ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
Re: [Framers] Shrinkwrapping
ShrinkwrapAsIs was created by an anonymous contributor, and published by Carla Martinek at http://www.martinek.us/shrinkwrap.html (now 404); compatibility was tested to Frame v. 7.2. I have never used it myself. Here's the info text from the web page: >>> ShrinkwrapAsIs DLL A known bug (feature?) in FrameMaker is that if you use the Esc-m-p Shrinkwrap command, it changes the anchor of the graphic from whatever it was to "At Insertion Point." A smart Frame user wrote a small FDK plugin that preserves the settings for an anchored frame when shrink wrapping. I am making the ShrinkwrapAsIs dll available as a download for everyone who requested it, with the following caveats: * No compatibility or suitability or functionality is guaranteed with any version of Frame on any platform. While this DLL was written for FM 6.0, various users have tested with 7.0, 7.1, & 7.2 successfully. Your success may vary. I just know it works on my machine, and has worked in both FM6 and FM7.1, on Win2K and WinXP * Ensure the document you are testing has been saved at least once (not a new document); otherwise it may not work * I have noticed on my machine that I sometimes get a ghost image of the graphic being anchored. A screen refresh (Ctrl-L or PgUp/Dn) will take care of this. * The author of this DLL (who prefers to remain anonymous because he doesn't want people emailing him for support issues) has authorized this file to be posted for download. You may freely distribute this file or URL to other FrameMaker users. <<< If anybody wants this, I can forward it - I don't think that's a no-no? Re: [Framers] Shrinkwrapping
My WS Utilities plugin provides a customizable shrinkwrap command that replaces the native function. You can set whatever margins you want, including zero. The plugin also does a bunch of other stuff. The full plugin functionalilty is not free, but the shrinkwrap command is. http://www.weststreetconsulting.com/WSC_Utils.htm Russ -- Message: 7 Date: Sat, 2 Apr 2016 13:49:01 -0500 From: Peter GoldTo: Mike Wickham Cc: "Framers \(E-mail\)" Subject: Re: [Framers] Shrinkwrapping Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 IIRC, there was a script in the long-ago days that would trim the excess. Re: [Framers] Re Screen Capture tools ...
They way I insert screen captures is to set my screen capture program to automatically save each file to specific location, move the file to a subfolder of where the docs are, right click on the file and select Copy Path to Clipboard, insert the file using ALT+f,i,f and paste the path to the file. I find this to be relatively fast. Copy Path to Clipboard is a free utility that you can find with a google search. (Actually there are several.) I find the Copy Path to Clipboard utility saves me a lot of time.
