[Framers] saving as XML crashes framemaker

2016-11-04 Thread Fred Wersan

Structured FrameMaker 2015. All updates applied as far as I know.

Some of my files crash FM when I try to save as XML. They've worked in
the past. I've tried saving as MIF and rebooted. Anyone have any ideas
what I might try to look for to fix these.

Re: [Framers] Won't recognize keystrokes

2016-11-04 Thread Urszula Witherell
Since I always forget the lock combination, I use a bit longer way to
unlock the document, but easier on memory.

Create a new blank FM file

From the top menu select Special>Hypertext...

Once you have the Hypertext dialog box open, one of the buttons on the
bottom right is "Make View Only" or "Make Editable".

If you switch between the documents, you can lock and unlock your file
without remembering the complicated shortcut keys.

   Best regards,

   Urszula

Re: [Framers] Where are the Running HF system Variables in FM11?

2016-11-04 Thread Studio Smalbro
Aaah... First things that goes blind are truely the eyes! Thanks a lot
for the fast help!

When I create a blank document in FrameMaker 11, I would expect to see

predefined Running HF system variables in the Variables Pod, but they
are not there. Do I really have to build them myself or are they merely
hidden or do I not look in the right place?

Try viewing the master page (instead of the body page). In FrameMaker
2015 (and I believe earlier), the Running H/F variables appear in the
Variables pod only when viewing the master page.

2016-11-04 Thread John Posada

FM 11 on Win7

Foe some reason, all my FM files won't recognize keystrokes. I can access
menus and all, the only thing is I cannot do is type into the page.

Do I remember something about a key combination that turns a page into View
