Re: [Framers] Frame Properties

2019-12-12 Thread Reng Winfried
Hi Doug,

I cannot reproduce issue 5570.
When I save the document and then delete a
condition tag and try to close the document,
I get a message whether I want to save.

5971
Is ist an issue, if your cross-reference is clickable?
When it looks the same as the text before and after
the reference, the reader does not notice that this
reference is clickable.
Still I see that this request pops up from time to time.

6739
I remember that I had experienced something similar
some time ago. However, I cannot remember exactly.
And I did not test this now.

Best regards

Winfried

Re: [Framers] Frame Properties

2019-12-12 Thread Lin Sims
Re your request to be able to make an xref unclickable (FRMAKER-5971): I
really don't think that's possible (but I am not a software engineer).

What you can do for now, however, is create an xref format that uses the
building block. That will make it look like the rest of
the surrounding text. Yes, it'll still be clickable in the PDF, but it
won't visibliy jump out at the user that this is a link rather than just
text unless they pass their cursor over it.

Thanks. I'm looking for a simple publishing route for our mobile techs in
the field. I just tried the MobileApp output, I just sent out a post on
that.

Re: [Framers] Current state of CHM in Windows 10

2019-12-12 Thread TW Smith
Hey,

It's been over a decade since I last worked on online help. I used to like
CHM because it was one file. However, even 10 years ago, CHM had fallen out
of favor -- I think because of security risks.

Back then, this was the approach to fixing it.

https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1961503-solved-windows-10-chm-help-files-showing-up-blank

The real problem is that your audience has to implement the fix, however.
You can't be sure that your end user will take this step.

Cheers,

Sean

[Framers] Current state of CHM in Windows 10

2019-12-12 Thread John Posada
Hi, guys...it's been awhile that I had to put my toe in the online help
world, but FM19 has the option of publishing MS HTML Help, generating a

Re: [Framers] Frame Properties

2019-12-12 Thread Reng Winfried
Hi Doug,

I am not sure which object properties you want to show.

When your object properties pod is open, you see the
properties of inserted graphics.

When you click Insert | Anchored Frame, this opens the
Anchored Frame pod.
When you now click on any anchored frame, the pod
shows immediately the dimensions and the anchoring.

However, you will not get the properties of text frames
or of FrameMaker graphics objects (lines, rectangles, etc.).
Create a new request in the Adobe Tracker:
https://tracker.adobe.com/
Post the issue number, and I will vote for it.

Best regards

Winfried

Thanks for the response.

Part of the problem is that both text frames and graphic frames use modal
Properties dialogs. This means I'm not able to save a workspace while they are
on-screen. This is unlike the images themselves, and anchored frames, which
use modeless dialogs; I can leave those on-screen all the time.

I guess what I need is a way to display a modal dialog in a modeless manner.
It seems to be such an arbitrary distinction, text/graphic frames vs.
image/anchored frames.

In this respect Framemaker seems to be quite behind the standard set by other
Adobe apps, like InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
