Not what you are looking for, but Acrobat and Reader will automatically
hyperlink anything that looks like a web address (www. or http://) or looks
like an email in a PDF. Granted, the end user could turn this off in their
preferences, but this is rare. It's not perfect, but it does work.

In my documentation, I include a lot of URLs to documentation on our
SharePoint network.
Currently, I copy the URL, paste the URL. then highlight the whole URL,
Insert -> Hypertext -> Command Go to URL -> paste after "message URL".
What I'm looking for is something that will look for all the URLs, then in
batch mode, turn all the text URLs to hypertext URLs.
Or something like that. Am I missing something?

You can probably get a script to do that, but as far as I know, FM does not
automatically create hypertext links for URLs.

[Framers] FM 2017 and 2019 crash when opening files containing long variable strings defined with non-breaking space characters

2020-01-06 Thread Simon BUCH

Hello,

Just to let you guys know - If you make use of FrameMaker variables,
FrameMaker can store long strings in memory, but when it comes to
displaying the content, it will show either 1023 characters, or
sometimes 1024.

But the real problem with using long strings is that FrameMaker will
crash IF you have a string longer than 1024 characters AND contains a
special characters such as non-breaking space "\ " [\x11 in MIF] AND if
you are opening the document as the first document since launch.
If you open a New > Portrait document, and then open the bad document,
don't attempt to open the Insert > Variables pane - FrameMaker will
crash again!

I have logged this behaviour on the Adobe tracker portal:
https://tracker.adobe.com/#/view/FRMAKER-7708

When will Adobe allow strings to be longer than 1024 bytes?
