This is true, but by Apple's own admission the Quartz PDF renderer (or whatever
they call it) doesn't product publication-quality PDF. If you need PDFX
If any of you guys use Live Cycle Designer like I do to make dynamic forms, you
won't get that with any PDF Creator, only with Acrobat Pro. (Just sayin')

I apologize if this is off topic, but here is a list of Acrobat
alternatives. (Please feel free to send me corrections or updates.)
Free:
- A free plug-in is available for Word 2007; comes with 2010
- Bullzip PDF Printer
- PDF995
- PrimoPDF
- CutePDF
For anyone who has access to Macintosh software, PDF creation is native on the last few Mac OS.

The key question to ask about these is do they support pdfMark PostScript
commands. This is the technology that FrameMaker uses to get bookmarks,
links, etc. in their PDFs. If you can't get these from the other tools, it
would be a serious limitation in my opinion.

Thanks for the list! It will help me during my evaluations soon. An addition to
your list:
"easyPDF" from BCL Technologies ($29.95)
http://www.pdfonline.com/easypdf/pdf-printer/
And I think, but not sure, that Pdf995 costs ($9.95) to get "without a sponsor
page" ... all their tools cost this,
