RE: how to italicize every instance of certain words
Couldn't you just use variables? You can include character formats as part of the variable definition. You could keep a Frame file with all the variables and import them into documents as required. Laurie lurker but glad to hear Rick's surgery was a success - I was surprised to receive a personal phone call from him in response to a question I had posted several years ago, was always impressed by that At 14:13 -0600 25/6/12, Carol J. RE: how to italicize every instance of certain words
As I indicated in the restrictions, I don't want to do more than type the word. I'm aware that variables would work, but there are a zillion instances of these words and I do not want to locate and insert a variable for each instance. For this exercise, I was hoping to learn about scripts, add-ons, or programs that work external to Framemaker. Thanks, though. No, you're right: although a wonderful timer-saver, it can't do that. -- Steve ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. RE: how to italicize every instance of certain words
Carol, I used to have a plugin Called WordChecker from Seatech Publications that would do this. You could set up an Auto Complete type of function so that it would correct each target word as you typed it the first time, or it would go through the document after you finished and match your text against a target list. We used it on FM 7.0 and I don't know if they are still in business or not. Hey there Clint...just went looking for that one and this page says they are no longer commercially supporting it (sad face): http://www.seatechpubs.com/s4/page43.htm On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 5:18 PM, Owen, Clint clint.o...@craneaerospace.comwrote: Carol, I used to have a plugin Called WordChecker from Seatech Publications that would do this. Re: how to italicize every instance of certain words
Not sure if this helps at all; I'm just thinking out loud. Indesign has had a feature for the last few versions called GREP styles. I've used it to do exactly what Carol wants to do: highlight certain words or word combinations (maybe even in certain places, or followed/preceded by certain characters). When you want to add a new word, you just add a new GREP style. GREP styles are applied on the fly all the time (i.e., once the GREP style is made, it applies itself without any further user intervention). Has anyone ever heard of a GREP style add-on for Frame?
